I just wa...Thanks for this nicely written overview. I just wanted to quickly add the
following remarks and let you know some more details about what will come in the
next months. In short, the devs of BitShares are working on DPOS2.0. It will
have approval voting for different classes of people on the blockchain. One of
the biggest issues with the current implementation is that those that secure the
network may have more interest in building a business around BitShares and not
focus on reliable block signing delegates. Furthermore, some project may require
several 100% delegates to be paid properly (e.g. core devs, bunkermining, ..)

That being said, DPOS2.0 will offer three types of special purpose accounts:

- Witnesses: collect the transactions and sign the blocks. They are paid from
transaction fees
- Delegates: .. function as a political instance and define system parameters,
such as block confirmation time, block size, but also number of
delegates. They also publish the price feeds and do NOT get paid.
- Workers: These are the accounts that run businesses. We had similar
proposals in the forums months ago calling them business delegates.
They do not need to do anything on-chain, but satisfy shareholders
and convince them they bring in more value than they cost.

Note that delegates and workers can be vote up AND down with your stake and that
only those get paid or are allowed to set a parameter that have enough votes.
In particular for delegates: They have set parameters and can't change them once
they published on the chain. So, if people want to change the confirmation time,
they need to vote out the old delegates and vote in those with the new
confirmation time.

So, as you can see, lot's of work has already been done and summer will be
.. let's say interesting.

Regards
-- Fabian
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06736222776370449462noreply@blogger.com
